Graduates Honored by Hui Okinawa

On May 11, 2007 Hui Okinawa honored club members graduating from high school and college with a dinner at the Nani Mau Gardens. This year Hui Okinawa honored one high school graduate - Kristen Uchima (Hilo High) who will be attending the University of Portland majoring in Elementary Education. College graduates honored included the following: Kristen Antonio (University of Southern California), Derek Namihira (University of Hawaii at Manoa), Jill Suzuki (University of Hawaii-Richardson School of Law),and Marlene Yafuso (University of Arizona). Guest speakers at the event were Ms. Chian Hsu and Mr. Ken Fujiyama. Ms. Hsu spoke about the importance of getting a good education. She is the assitant general manager of Nani Mau Gardens. Mr. Ken Fujiyama spoke about the power of compounding and investing your money while you are still young. He is the owner and general manager of the Nani Mau Gardens, Naniloa Volcanoes Resort and Volcano House.  Click here to view pictures.
