Dressing and Picture-taking

Bingata kimono with hanagasa and/or paranku drummer dressing and picture-taking by professional photographers Gina Hara on Saturday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. -12 noon and 1 - 4 p.m., and by David Shimabukuro (One Moment in Time) and on Sunday, from 9 a.m. - 12 noon and 1 - 3 p.m.

Cost: 8” x 10” color photo of one person: $20 — for every additional print: add $10; for every additional person in the photo: add $3

 

Also in the Cultural Tent:

• Sale of Hui O Laulima’s cultural cookbook, “Okinawan Mixed Plate: Generous Servings of Culture, Customs and Cuisine,” for $20.

• Okinawan artifacts: ceramics, glassware, lacquerware and textiles will be on display.

• Uchinaaguchi (Okinawan language): Bookmarks and buttons bearing Okinawan words and phrases will be available for purchase.       

• Genealogy information provided by the Okinawan Genealogical Society of Hawaii: come prepared with your family kanji.

• Calligraphy display and demonstration: Calligraphy writing of your family name will be available for purchase.

• Display of ikebana flower arrangements by Nobuko Kida Sensei and her Ikebana Ikenobu School students (classes are held every month at the Hawaii Okinawa Center).

• Display of bonsai and silent auction by the Hawaii Bonsai Association.
