Frequently Asked Questions

There are two navigation bars. The navigation bar going across the top of the page is called the Current Information Navigation bar which contains current information on HUOA and club activities. The navigation bar going down the left side of the page is called the Reference Information Navigation bar which contains reference and historical information.

Current Information Navigation bar

HUOA Today: Provides daily information about current HUOA activities, needs and schedules notices. The sections include upcoming events, upcoming meetings, volunteer needs, wish list items and upcoming KZOO and Hawaii Okinawa Today (HOT TV) schedules.
HUOA Sports: Provides updates about HUOA sports activities. The sections include notices, schedules, recent pictures, scoreboards and standings.
Club News: Provides updates about HUOA member club activities and news. The sections include notices, news, newsletters and other club submissions.
Contact Us: Provides contact information including Hawaii Okinawa Center address and phone numbers and various email addresses.

How do I find reference or historical information about HUOA?

Reference Information Navigation bar

About HUOA: Contains information about HUOA's history, HUOA beliefs and values, HUOA member clubs, HUOA Officers and HUOA contact information.
Our Facilities: Contains information about the Hawaii Okinawa Center, Legacy Ballroom, Historical Gallery, Gift Shop and 94-1042 Ka Uka Blvd.
Giving To HUOA: Contains general information about the Annual Fund Drive (Preserving Our Legacy), Capital Campaign (Completing The Dream), supporting the Uchinanchu Newsletter, volunteer opportunities and HUOA needs.
Annual Events: Contains general information about the various annual events such as the craft fairs, Okinawan Festival, Childen's Day Camp and Installation Banquet.
Warabi: For the children. Contains general information about the Childen's Day Camp. In addition, other educational links are available.
Archives: Contains historical information including past event listings, photos, honorees, Uchinanchu Newsletters, Hawaii Okinawa Today schedules, Installation Banquet information, sports information and other member contributions.
Things Okinawan: Contains information on learning more about Okinawan culture including a cultural directory, books, music and language.
Links: Contains links to Government entities (Okinawa and Hawaii), other Okinawa, Hawaii related and miscellaneous websites.

I want to schedule an event at Hawaii Okinawa Center, who do I contact?

The scheduling and catering of events are handled through A Catered Experience, a division of Zippy's. See the Legacy Ballroom for more details or email your request to acecs@acateredexperience.com.

Where's the latest Uchinanchu Newsletter??

Check the HUOA Today section - You'll find the latest edition. In addition, you'll find out about article submission deadlines and when to anticipate the next issue.

What happened to the music that used to play in the background?

We decided to not play the music automatically. Sometimes, the music would play over other sound clips making it difficult to hear the sound clip. You can still listen to the music by going to the Things Okinawan tab and selecting the Music menu item.

I want to find out information about my club, where do I look?

To learn about your club's history, go to the Member Club list (found in the Reference Information Navigation bar - under About HUOA). To learn about current activities including current newsletters, go the the Club News (found in the Current Information Navigation bar).
